very quickly. by 9:00 a.m. just a little spotty activity south of san jose. by noon today almost completely clear over the greater bay area from the showers and we're also talking about sunshine at that point from santa rosa down to san mateo. still mostly cloudy until about 2:00 p.m. in san jose but we're going to see a nice, sunny finish to the day and highs will be in the upper 60s and low 70s everywhere across the bay area. traffic and weather go hand in hand. let's check on the morning commute with mike inouye. >> mostly cloudy and we're hearing mostly crowdy over at the toll plaza where we have the wet roads. look at that, the water kicks up some of the leftovers from last night's rain. there is the slow at the toll plaza. the map shows you it is moving smoothly but the yellow spots just below 60. i'm going to overlay some weather data. the green here you may have slicker conditions like the bay bridge toll plaza. this is west 580 into livermore, the earlier accident and two accidents reported have both completely cleared from the roadway. a lot of folks headed toward the d

from aaa. you can see san jose, oakland, the 370 range. san francisco, averaging $3.86. compare that to a month ago and you are looking at a decrease of roughly 70 cents. still expensive. compared to last thanksgiving, these prices are about the same. if you are driving out of town via 580, a main connector, there has been a lot of traffic in livermore at the altoro exit as shoppers head to the new outlet mall. might not be the biggest deal today as shoppers hold off for black friday but it could be an issue tomorrow night. and of course on friday, that's when the mall will be onlying. the mall actually opens tomorrow night. it will be open throughout friday. 580 could be particularly bad because of the new outlet mall. reporting live for "told in the bay." >>> not only are there travelers all over country talking to those airports, bay area no exception. travelers are experiencing some delays already, right? >> yeah, just a couple of delays. we're really starting to see traffic pick up at the airport. a lot of flights. what a day to be traveling. we've got rain, we've got crowd

into san jose very quickly and true to form, here we are, back independent almost all the way up to 101. i want to put it on the map to show -- to show you what's going on. this is the problem we're talking about. northbound 280 and the slow traffic we just showed you. also, 87 has been slow because of an earlier crash, not only in the south bay do we have slow traffic. it's slowing on 880 southbound from 288 from fremont. and interstate 680 from concord to walnut creek and also slow on highway 4. we had an accident on the bridge. but that's gone. it's backed up for about 20, 30 minutes. >>> let's go to mark tamayo. just beautiful out there this morning. we have cloud cover, breaks in the clouds. no rainfall but that will be changing. it has been an exciting week forecast-wise. we started off with the weather pattern transitioning quickly. right now, some rain and snowshowers out toward the sierra. this is what we're watching out to the north. rain band out towards cape mendocino. still a -- still a bit of a breeze out there, winds coming in from 15 to 16 miles hour. current numbers, reall

oakland, 53 mountain view. san jose low 50s. you are warmer this morning. and most locations gilroy, though, 47 degrees. so the 24-hour temperature change, looking at numbers mainly three to six degrees warmer from our coast around the bay. but we do have that cooler air mass with those temperatures dropping into the upper 40s near napa and santa rosa. about a half-mile visibility toward novato. a mile and three quarters santa rosa and napa looking at four-mile visibility, as well. throughout the day today we will look for the warmer afternoon with the numbers coming up to more spring-like readings. mid-70s downtown today and possible record warmth tomorrow through election day with more 80s around the bay than 70s. san benito county, southern monterey could reach 90 degrees by tomorrow. the warming begins today as the high pressure builds in from the eastern pacific. it will stay that way for the next 48 hours. by wednesday, though, a big drop. a midweek cool-down with numbers dropping at much at ten to fifteen degrees. then the rain comes overnight wednesday into thursday. light s

annual silicon valley turkey trot. bob redell is live in downtown san jose right now. bob, just a great race, great cause. >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you, jon. what's remarkable if you think about the silicon valley turkey trot, when it started eight years ago, there were roughly 1900 runners. today you're looking at around 25,000 and a little bit more if you include the kids running. it's been raising money to charity. started out around $132,000 raised that first year. this year it's going to be over $1 million because of a last-minute anonymous donation that came in. carl gardino is the brains behind this. i'm curious from your point of view to be, oh, i started this thing and look how big it's become. >> it's amazing the generosity of this community. of course our citizens who care about the needy, the companies who care about local needs and all of us coming out together on another beautiful thanksgiving morning to run or walk to help those who are not as fortunate as we are. >> and it has become a tradition here where people come burn so  many calories, perhaps not enough

101, clearing stages. >>> breaking news out of the south bay. san jose firefighters on the scene of suspicious fire at a hair salon on lundy avenue. here's a live look. firefighters with hoses, the ground is wet, there are a lot of stores in that strip mall. according to a dispatcher this fire was reported one hour ago they made quick work of it. we are waiting to get an update. it looks like that beauty salon is at the center of it. >>> this morning traffic back to normal on i-580 in oakland after being shutdown a couple hours last night following a gun battle between people in two cars. sky 7 hd was overhead after lanes were closed seminary drive and edwards avenue 8:30. the gun battle ended with two cars crashing, officers found both vehicles riddled with bullets, people in the cars nowhere to be found. nobody has shown up at area hospitals. investigators say there is no active search underway for the people involved in that shooting. >> oakland police investigating a homicide blocks from that freeway shooting. police were called 9:30 last night at hilton near seminary avenue.

further to the south right now towards san jose. that line off the coastline is still developing. that's going to be moving onshore going to bring another band of some heavy rainfall on the way. still the san jose area catching the brunt of it right now in through the santa cruz mountains. and urban and small stream flood advisories have just been issued for the santa cruz county area as we are expecting some strong storms to bring more heavy rainfall there and the possibility of some flooding. in towards san francisco, south san francisco, you have a band of heavy rainfall making its way along the 280 an 101. watch out for that. in the east bay strong storms there, near concord another cell moving in your direction. watch out, danville! in the next five five to 10 minutes it's going to start raining heavily here. the damage is done. we have see a tremendous amount of rainfall and flooding in petaluma along the creek there penngrove, expected to flood this morning. flood warnings are up there. we could see more of that on the way not only today but into the weekend as we have mor

and you can see on doppler radar lots of yellow out there. san jose it is seeing some showers right now, some heavier rain earlier. that's soon going to be picking up. you can see north in sunnyvale that we have some stronger storms that will be sliding in your direction. so if you are heading out be careful. we have the rain and some pockets of heavy rainfall into oakland, stretching across the bay into south san francisco. a little further to the north we can see the back side of the storm system. we mentioned the possibility of flooding in petaluma. they are seeing very heavy downpours right now. expecting some flooding along the penngrove stream there. so that's expected to rise as more of that water comes down the hill so some very stormy weather there. mill valley a strong cell headed there. flash flood watches up for much of the bay area. they have been extended for the weekend. we have a lot more rain to come. we'll have more on that coming up in just a few minutes. >> if you can leave later for your morning commute, gosh, it is just a mess in a lot of spots all across the bay a

redwood city to fremont and san jose this morning. a little bit of fog. otherwise we are just on our way to a rapid warmup today. possible records tomorrow and tuesday. then the bottom falls out after that. here comes the warming trend. it's high pressure that builds into the upper layer surface and the upper layers of the atmosphere. what that means is that flow turns slightly offshore. more of a northerly flow so the down sloping winds allowing for rapid warming today with some 80s possible. look it, it's a state-wide event with 84 in los angeles, 80 down by san diego and look at big sur, 80s on the coast. we are talking another five to seven degrees of warming tomorrow into tuesday. so that should take us about 15 to 20 degrees above normal by the time we hit election day. but i think tomorrow should be the warmest day of the work week. so average highs mid-60s here. talking 74 in san francisco, 677 oakland. san jose we have low 80s up toward the north in santa rosa, 80 for concord, livermore. half moon bay 68 and down by the monterey bay, santa cruz, 80 degrees today. 81 hollister. e
